17 is the legal age here in Jersey. but i have been driving tractor trailers since i was 13.
farm use plate let us get away with a lot of things 40-50 years ago.
13-years old but daytime only and with an adult present (Idaho law) - couldn't legally drive at night until 17 (or 16, I can't remember exactly - it's been so many years and I think the law has changed since then)...
Got my license at 16, was living in Sweden as an exchange student and could legally driver there at 16 even though the driving age there is 18. But as a few others here have stated, I was driving much earlier than that. Living on a ranch, I started driving backhoes and such at 7, cars and trucks at 10, and was driving on the roads occasionally at 12.
At 16 was the limit at the time in WV. But we never saw a cop so we all drove about anywhere local we wanted as long as we could scrape up the gas money.( Or hit the Schoolbus Parking lot)
My dad used to let me drive along the back roads. I got my learner's permit when I turned 14. I also got held back that year which was awesome because the next year I was the only kid in my class who had a scooter.
