Starting the restoration on my 1970 F100 SWB, putting an 04 Crown vic front suspension under it

Looking great! Mine is a '70 also. What are you doing for the rear suspension?

 

Undecided on the rear suspension right now, gonna stick with leafs, but I'm either gonna go with an explorer rear axle but then I gotta order custom backspaced rear wheels, if I use a certain wheel then I gotta find a 65" wide axle, then ill re drill the right bolt pattern in it to fit my wheels, I think an older f150 axle is close to that that I need

 

Got the motor and trans pulled out of the frame yesterday

started cutting out old crossmember and spring buckets



Got the new just setting under there, gonna be easier to install this then it was to remove all the old ****, took alot of cutting and air chiseling to get them old rivets out

Ain't that the truth! Drilling the mounting holes is fun though. You have the advantage of flipping the frame over which will make it easier.

 

made the spacers to bolt front end in

got it bolted in and the spacers tacked in, now gotta take it all back out to weld it up good and box the frame

 

Looks good so far. Boxing the frame is something I want to do to mine when I can get to it.
