Mind blowing little trick you didn't know

So I have seen people post about different ways to get the dinger for your seat belt to stop if you are driving around without your seat belt on. This is useful for me since I work on a horse ranch and drive around the property without my belt on.

You can:

A. Plug the seat belt in and unplug it

B. I saw someone with a spare seat belt peice that they put in the whole to keep it from happening

C. Disconnect your dinger

OR

D. When it starts to ding at you while driving simply push the button in on the reciever part (make sure you puch the buttom all the way in).... BOOM no more dinging!!!!!

Go ahead go out to your truck drive it around in a secure location and try it. I encourage other people to do this because i only know that this works on 01 models including SUVS so other people please chime in...

Your Welcome!!!

You don't have to wait for the ding, it will work after the key is turned. I like the extra seat belt end because I end up forgetting to press the button half the time...... man I hate that noise.

I thought the chime disable procedure in the owner's manual worked for all years of 7.3L superduty?

When I worked for the govt. in the Rockies we would do the disable on all the 7.3s at the beginning of the season. Seatbelt can be real painful on some unimproved dirt "roads".

Nolan, can't you come up with something new???

Been doing this for years. I wear my seat belt, but not in my pasture.

i always wear the seat belt on the road Pete. i just do not wear it to move the truck in the yard or when sitting in the truck with the engine running. the chime going whenever i am sitting in the seat with the key on is rather annoying

I understand what you're talking about, Tom.

I'll admit that I'm somewhat **** about the whole thing, but that is something that happened in my brain when I found out that a co-worker of mine in high school was killed in a car accident over 30 years ago. Granted, a seat belt would have actually not done anything for her given the particulars of that incident, but still, at the same time, it was literally like someone flipped a switch in my brain. Although I can do what you're talking about, Tom, if the engine is running, I simply feel very uncomfortable just sitting in the seat without a seat belt on.

When you're just idling along offroad or just backing a trailer up a driveway the seatbelt isn't going to help you much and the dinger is just annoying.

Like i said i work on a horse ranch and there is no need to put my seat belt on when i drive around the property. I am not encouraging people to not wear their seat belts but in many cases like mine or when im going to hook up to a trailer yadyadyad it is a nice thing to know...

Rick in the years i have been reading this forum why has nobody ever mentioned this!!!! hahahaha like i said i saw a thread about it YEARS AGO where some one suggested just using a spare end to plug in haha
