Aftermarket DVD - 2011 Exp Limited
Hi all, I bought a 2011 Expedition EL Limited with pretty much all options except for the headrest DVD players. I found Power Acoustik headrest DVD players at Best Buy for $500. The problem is that they want $200 for each side to install.
My question is: does a 2011 limited already have the wiring installed in the seats? How can I tell if this is a plug n play install?
Also, will the headphones from my 2010 work on this aftermarket unit?
Thanks,
Kevin

Well I went ahead and bought these headrest DVD players today at Best Buy. So the next obvious question is whether or not my Expedition is pre-wired for the factory option DVD players. 2011 XLT Expedition EL? Is there ANYBODY out there in this forum who knows anything about this?

I was afraid that was the answer. I unzipped the back cover on the passenger seat tonight. All I could see looked like the heat/AC equipment for the seat. But I'm pretty sure the "Ford" DVD players are indeed a factory option (I test drove a Limited at another dealership that had them). The dealership where we bought our Expedition always orders them without and then gives the $1500 option to the buyers.

I bought the Power Acoustik DVD headrests for my 2011 EL Limited. I paid Best Buy $200 to install both. When the tech was quoting me install before my purchase, he said $200/side. He seemed to think that was too high, so we spoke to the store manager, who agreed that $200 total was fair.
They seem to work all right. My main complaint is that they rattle compared to the factory headrests, and there is almost no head support, especially compared to the huge factory rests.
We had an 07 and still have a 2010 with factory DVD. The Ford headphones do not work with the aftermarket unit.
