2008 Transmission squeal?

Its actually on a 2008 E350 with a 5.4 but figured its all the same. There is a squeal that sounds like a bad pulley but its coming from the flexplate or torque converter. I have taken the belt off to verify. I dont see anything psychically wrong like cracks, bends or anything touching. The little I can find on this subject I would say flexplate has a crack somewhere. Transmission shop also can not figure it out. I just want assurance before pulling the transmission in this beast. Anyone ever seen or heard this before?

Here is a video, shot with a cell phone but definitely can hear the noise.

Appreciate any input
Dan

lol, sounds like an angry chiguagua. Could be a bunch of different things. Looks like a rebuild is in your future.

I don't think its internal in the trans. Its been doing this for at least 8 months. has no drivability issue at all. at least 20K miles has been put on while this noise has happened.

have you dropped the pan? Maybe a filter issue then?

That is not the same. That is a torque shift 5 speed they use in the super duty's I am not 100% sure but that looks like a trans filter like you see on the torque shift's, the white filter that is. Try changing fluid.

I have not checked the filter but the noise in the pan sounds good with a stethoscope. and transmission shifts fine as well as the TC locking and unlocking. if the filter drops doesn't the pressure drop and cause shifting issues?

The white filter is the oil filter on a sandwich cooler. Filter is in the pan on these.

We will be pulling the transmission early next week and inspecting the flexplate. If nothing is noticeable we may end up trying a torque converter. We cant have our van sounding like a POS anymore.
