1991 F-250 engine bay.

Hello,

My father and I both own a big ole' Ford his is a 1996 f-350 7.3 PSD and mine is a 1991 F-250 351W, now he has over 500,000 miles on his truck and at some point he bought a replacement 96' 7.3 engine, with low miles, in case his died, but that doesn't seem to be on the horizon so he was considering selling it untill lastnight, we were talking around a campfire and he said that he could save it and put that engine in my truck some time with no issues. My question is, is he right can we do that with no problom?

Thanks.

as long as you have the transmission, wiring harness, computer and other assorted smalls, yes it will work. with just an engine, it will cost a small fortune to put it in gas rig.

no, gas and diesel use different transmissions.
gas will not bolt to diesel, diesel will not bolt to gas.

different bolt pattern. the only way to make it work is take the guts out of the gas trans and put them into a diesel trans case and use the heavier diesel clutch packs and pumps.
