drove a 6.2...oh man!
i had the great pleasure of driving my dream truck! 2011 lariat limited 4x4..so sexy!
#3671 of 3700 produced.
absolutely amazing truck, so smoothin every way! but i have to say the ride is much the same as my grand fathers '04 lairat super crew(not a bad thing). heated/A/C seats and heated rear seats are great. navigation was easy to use an the sony sound system is wonderful.
the by far the best part of this truck is the 6.2L V8. oh man talk about power! man that sound it puts out is dreamy!
if i had the cash, i would have one of these trucks today. i love pearl white, and the two toned seats, color matched 22s..ect ect the limited is my pick.

Our new work F250 has the 6.2, and it reminds me of an old Chevrolet, makes a lot of noise but not going anywhere real fast. Must be the added weight of the heavier truck.
I would like to see a comparison of how the 6.2 is in the 1/2 ton truck, fuel mileage as well. I know in our company truck, your lucky to pull in 12 mpgs.

i thought the f-250's moved pretty good. but all the ones i've driven had 4:30 gears.
whole different animal in the 150 in my opinion.
this truck has 7,400 miles on it, the driver drives pretty light. all in town and the avg mpg read out said 12.4mpg. not bad at all in my opinion. but then again i'm used to 8mpg with my daily driver V10 excursion.

My buddie has a 6.2L F-250 and so far he said the only thing he's not impressed with is the engine. He said when towing his 6.2L is only about equal to his old 1999 F-250 2V V-10. Unloaded its a little quicker and gets better mileage, but overall he doesn't seem to thrilled with the 6.2L
I've only driven one 6.2L F-150 and I was pretty impressed by it...However I didn't see enough of a difference between the 5.0L and 6.2L to warrent the extra cost. And at the time Ford didn't even offer the 6.2L in the particular cab configuration and model that I wanted.
Not trying to take away from the 6.2L I think its a badass engine, But I think that Ford should make it a DOHC 4V design like the 5.0L is.

no it was the 6.2 trust me. i daily drive(2k ish month) a V10 excursion that gets 8-10mpg city and 10-14 mpg highway and a '98 expedition that gets 10.5 city/15 highway.
so for me the 6.2 is a big turn ON hell gets ALOT better MPG(12/16) then that i drive all the time. so i would jump on it in a a heart beat. i dont complain about the MPG's though as they really dont matter to me. i pay to drive what i want..period. i refuse to change my driving habits or what i drive due to the price of gas.
yes the limited is the version i want, but the cream on top is the 6.2.

The reason why your buddy is not impressed is because he's not putting his foot into it. A couple of guys here did a tow test last year or so up a ~15% grade with 15,000 pounds. The 6.2 trucks crested the hill only 1-2MPH slower than a 6.7PSD.

yeah, put it to the floor and listen to that great sound. people said the same thing about the V10. dont try to lug it around at low RPM thats now what its built for.
i drive very aggressive so in my 8 mile commute to work one way. i'd say whatever i'm driving see's at least 10 WOT runs. just let the truck rev and it will make quick work of the road ahead.
the Vid i posted, i know its kinda hard to tell. but it looks like about 6-6.5 sec to 60mph? i was slightly power braking it but not much.

My only issue with the 6.2L is that it's a very heavy engine, at least compared to most modern engines in half-tons. It weighs 580lbs.
Compare that to the 5.0L at 444lbs, the Ecoboost at 449lbs, or Gm's 6.2L at 415lbs. Even the 5.7L Hemi, which also has a cast iron block, is only 485lbs.
I bet if they gave it an aluminum block they could take 100lbs off the nose. That would both increase performance and reduce stress on the front suspension.
My other issue isn't with the engine itself, but with Ford......why is it we can't get the 6.2L in a regular cab/short bed 1/2 ton? They finally allow it in regular cab/long bed trucks for next year, but I want it in a regular cab/short bed truck. The ecoboost is the same way, not available in a rc/sb. It's 5.0L or naturally aspirated 3.7L V6 only.
