Ford Bronco 2 Tranny

I got my 1989 ford bronco 2 Eddie Bauer transmission rebuilt no too long ago. I sent it to a transmission rebuilding company to get it done. When it got rebuilt, no more then a month and a half later the tranny went completely out on me. The torque converter went out....i sent it back to them to fix the problem and they "did", but since i got it back the tranny seemed different.....I thought my tranny did have 5 speed, but now it only has 4 speed. It shifts from 1st to second to third with no problem, but it takes for me to get 55 mph to shift into 4th which takes for me to go over speed limit just to get into 4th. It wasnt like that before. I just wanna make sure Im right about the fact that my car should be shifting into 4th and 5th much quicker then that. Anyone know if this is normal or not for my bronco? Does my car have 5 speed like i thought it did, or is it only 4 speed? Overdrive works ok but doesnt seem the same. What could be wrong in the tranny?

it may have felt like a 5 spd because lockup feels like a shift. od is supposed to kick in around 55. sounds like you're not locking up. if it's a new tc, perhaps the solenoid connector is loose.

Yeah i finally realized that its a 4 gear tranny. Overdrive kicks in at anytime i want, but 1-3 gears shift right, but it doesnt shift into the last gear until 55mph. When i first got it rebuilt it shifted into 4th earlier then 55 mph like all other cars do, but now it takes for me to get into 55mph for the 4th gear to kick in. My overdrive can kick in whenever i need it to, but im talking specifically about my 4th gear. Its not shifting to it sooner like the way it did before it screwed up.

your 4th gear IS overdrive.
it sounds like you are not getting torque lockup, which will happen after shifting into 3rd about 40mph.
check the forward connector on the side of the trans. if it doesn't fit right, how many pins are in the trans end?
also, are you SURE the tc was all the way seated when bolting it up?

Its funny though i shift into 3rd gear around 25-30 mph, then it takes the tranny for me to get to or after 55mph for it to finally shift into 4. So in other words, driving in a simple 45 mile an hour road I cant get into 4th gear. New torque converter, rebuilt tranny (after they screwed it up the first time), and it used to shift into the last gear much sooner then that. its upsetting

My mechanic just told me that it should cuz he owns an 89 eddie bauer sport utility just like mine. He told me it should go 1, 2, 3, 4, and 55mph is the overdrive gear. I had taken the tranny to these "pro tranny peps" and twice they screwed up. My mechanic doesnt do trannys but now said he would do it over for me and make sure its 100% fine. Lol. Thanks for your input! Ford trucks 4 life!

i repeat:
you are not getting torque lockup, which should happen after shifting into 3rd about 40mph.
check the forward connector on the side of the trans. make sure it's tight. if it doesn't fit right, how many pins are in the trans end?

Yes, this is a 4 speed automatic. 3rd is 1:1, 4th is overdrive. It does not sound like your torque converter is locking up, as mentioned earlier.
