New F150 Supercab 3.7 liter owner checking in......

Just traded my 06 ranger in on it. Wanted something bigger, but still a LITTLE fuel efficient. Did not go ecoboost. Just a plain 3.7 auto.....What kind of gas milage are you guys with this truck/ engine combo getting? Mine had 2300 miles on it, so its not BRAND NEW, but it is showing 13 miles per gallon currently. I choked when I saw that. Any idea? I bought a bnew subaru forrester 2 years ago, that thing said 20 mpg with the 2.5 liter 4 for the first 5-6 months, then it kicked up to 29-31......can I expect the same thing with this f150? Really excited to have a fullsize, hoping I got a good one.....

Welcome to FTE!!! Congrats on your baby, nothing like a new truck in the driveway to put a smile on your face.

I think your MPG's are going gain significantly. The 3.7L trucks are awesome and seem to be the most trouble free so far.

Yeah, I hope so. I had not read yet the reviews and problems with the ecocrap, and just decided it was too new and that the 3.7 out of the stang had good reviews, so I went with that. Very glad I did now......Seems like a well built truck too. Try to post pics soon. Oh, its 2wd...

Yeah, thats what I've got. Its already ticked up to 15.4 from 13.1.........so maybe it will get better. BUT, with 2300 miles on it, should it be higher? I forget exactly how long it took the subaru to get to 30......

I'm interested in hearing some real world opinions on this 3.7L. I've been tempted to get another work truck and thought about a plain Jane regular cab 4x4 with the 3.7L... Will be following this thread.

reset your avg mpg at your next fillup ad see where that takes ya.

at least that way your milage average wont include anyone's heavy footed test drives.

In all fairness the 3.7 is the least owned of the motors as well. Not saying they are not great but I have not heard of any problems but I've only heard of a couple people on this forum that bought them .

true, that the 3.7's are the least talked about here on FTE, but i have a feeling that may have something to do with the role they play in the market.

i'd venture a guess that the vast majority of 3.7's out there are serving as fleet and rental vehicles.

i have found that most people couldn't possibly care any less about a vehicle which they do not own (present company excluded).

i suppose i could be wrong, too. Either way, i'd sure like to hear more about how the 3.7's hold up, especially from those who use thier trucks as more than people-movers.

I think they are great motors. They have already been tested in the mustang which I'm sure most people run them hard. I think the only motor with some major glitches is the ecoboost. I'm not saying that it is a bad motor it just seems the abundance of technology on it is causing some problems. It is just a given that if you add two turbo's, boost, and all the gadgets required to operate them that it will be less reliable than a plain fuel injected motor.
