Can I put a 427 in my 50 F1?

Hey Guys! My Dad and I own a 1950 F1 that is currently running a SBC. I"m new to the truck world but not to the modding world. I am currently looking to swap the SBC out of the truck and put in a 427 FE motor. Can this be done without any major issues? The truck does have a Mustang II type front suspension but I'm not sure who's it is. Where is the best place to go for motor mounts, headers, radiator etc... What else do I need? I'm trying to get all my ducks in a row before I try to make this happen. Any help will be much appreciated guys.

It will fit but man is it tight. I've got a 390 in mine. Headers are a real issue but I'm running the oem front suspension. I hear its easier with a Mustang II.

What headers did you end up running? Does anyone make a standard set of headers that will fit the truck?

I'd say GO FOR IT! You might have to custom make a set of headers, the previous owner of mine did this. Here's some pics of the 383 with the headers, good luck with your decision. L8R ZFLASH

Go for it! One of the best motors ever. If they can get it in a Cobra you should be able to get it in your truck. Back in my high school days there was a guy who put one in his '62 Falcon. Where there is a will, there is a way.

With a MII front suspension, you won't be able to use a crossmember type engine mount. Both crossmembers will want to take up the same space. You'll have to fabricate your own frame mounts to fit on your current crossmember.

Good luck finding a "real" 427.

I put a 425 in a '49 f1, back in '81. It looked great in there. it was tight but it also looked like it was made to go in there....
