Do You Know A Tranny When You See It

Found this Trans attached to the back of a Y-Block - Dude said it came out of a 64 Ford Truck
Any idea what it is?

Looks like the one in my truck, least with the shifter and the e-brake handle with drum brake.

Mine is a 5 speed direct. Gears are set up:

Well, I, for one am glad this is the kind of tranny we're talking about. I thought this might be another Julie thread starting. LOL

That said, what is the give-away that the trans is a 5 speed? It looks no different (to me, anyway) than my T59 or T98 4 gear units. It does have the PTO unit on the side of the case.

I agree with Wayne, it has three shift rails, so could be 4 or 5 sp, but much more likely to be a 4 speed in the '60's.

I retract my earlier statement. The clark 5 speeds have a much larger top/shifter cover and with no visible shift rails.

Its a T98 more than likely

I saw a Tranny once and I have no idea what speed he/she was, and don't want to know! And, I have no idea about what your picture is either. The trans that was in my 65 is a three speed and looks nothing like that one.

Looks to be like the T98 in my '56, complete with PTO. Could be a T18?
