If the previous owner want running synthetic I would not use it. Stick to a quality 10w/30 if you are in a more norhterly climate(Yankee) or a 10w/40 if southerly(REBEL) when it is warm and 10w/30 when it is cooler out.

Won't hurt a thing except your pocket book to run synthetic in your engine if that's what you want to do. I have switched every vehicle I have owned in the last 10 years to synthetic regardless of miles without a problem. I use 10/30 year round.

I use Rotella full synthetic 5w40 in my 1997 460; seems to run very smooth with it!

The only reason I say not to use synthetic if you don't know what was run in it before is that I have seen more than once where you run synthetic in a high mileage motor and suddenly small leaks and seeps start to appear.
