Betty turns oil burner

Just waiting and watching, prefilght all items twice. Twice is free, mistakes usually are not.
Fuel supply, lift pump or priming pump, fuel filter bled?
Oil
All gauges checked, connected and air bled out.
P/S pump to hydra boost lines
Brakes
Trans fluid
Air source clear
Any coolers bled?
All fluid lines and elec connections secure?
Emergency shut down capabilities connected or in place (you have a plan, I am sure) key I guess?
I am spit balling here....lol

The height and width of the two batteries was the same so the same hold down hardware will fit either battery. The 27F was about 2" longer.
Back to your regularly scheduled programming.

I was going from memory so I checked the parts catalog. The standard battery was a 24F and the heavy duty was 27F.

Fuel supply, lift pump or priming pump, fuel filter bled? Check have an air dog, and have to run to cummins today for some new seals. Have a small leak in the injector bleed line.
Oil. Yes but I need to prime to oil galley still
All gauges checked, connected and air bled out. Oil pressure is the only one I need to tighten up after I prime the oil galley
P/S pump to hydra boost lines. Check, bled as much as I can by turning the wheel back and forth.
Brakes. Check same brakes as before I did the swap. I did run clean fluid through and bled them for s4!ts and giggles.
Trans fluid. Yep brand new syntorq in.
Air source clear. Yep new air filter.
Any coolers bled? No coolers.
All fluid lines and elec connections secure? Almost, just battery cables left.
Emergency shut down capabilities connected or in place (you have a plan, I am sure) key I guess? Have a fuel shut down, and as of right now if I have a run away I'll yank the air filter tube and shut the air down with a small block off plate.

May fire her up tonight, depending on if cummins has the seals I need. If not probably on Saturday.

Word to the wise, if you are going to use something as an Air Block Off on the inlet then use a piece of steel.
At the junkyard we used to screw around and see what it took to actually kill a motor any time we got something in that ran but wasn't worth taking home (no oil, coolant etc) , my point is we had a wore out detroit turbo model bus and tried using a chunk of 1/2" plywood as an Air Block at the turbo inlet, it sucked the plywood to pieces and only shut down due to the turbo guts getting blown through the motor.
Fuel Kill is the safest bet. Can you cut power to your inline fuel pump if need be?
Batteries/cables look like my truck now, just nicer on yours. Question though, why not crimp the terminals a 2nd time so it didn't have the sharp "Bell" inside the heat shrink?
Running yet?.... How about now!?.... Video!!!! haha

Ok gents. The moment y'all been waiting for. After working on her solid for a year today it all paid off.
First start. I cannot believe how fast she started and ran smooth. Less then a minute.
Second video breaking in the cam.
I thought I had an issue at the end of that last video. Turns out what I thought was water out of the head was diesel out of the #6 injector. I did not have her tight enough. Good thing I smelled it or I would've re torqued the head for no reason.
Last video running in the cam. So about 17 min doing that above 1500 rpm. Went very smooth. And a little goosing it at the end.
I still have some work to do for sure, but the most nerve racking part is over. I have a new jack shaft sitting on the work bench, and a new tailshaft bushing on the way. I also have a nice set of corbeau moab seats on order.
Also something I've been working on for awhile. A little video of my build pics. This is part one. I'll post up part two in a bit.
It's a well deserved beer30. Goodnight!
