Steering shaft removal

Finishing disassembly of the steering column in my '67 today. I have read a few articles on this for pre study. Most say to remove the steering wheel and pull out the main shaft. Mine either isn't built that way or it is stuck. I am trying to avoid disconnecting the shift linkage by pulling the shaft and sliding the shift arm out of the shift tube so I don;t have to readjust anything when I reassemble. Anyone have any ideas?

I have everything disconnected except the shift arm to threaded rod off the lower linkage at this point.

I got this done. Took the spring steel clip off the back of the shift lever and it was free. I then pulled the column out through the cab.
