Water/Meth Injection

Thought I could pick a few brains about this matter over in this section as well since I have seen more guys running it on the SD's than the OBS trucks...here is the thread just in the OBS section

Does it really give mileage gains? How much cooler does the egts run when towing? How much water/meth do you go through a month? Do you run it all the time or just when towing?

Sorry just a few I had.

no clue... I dont check my mileage, when it tells me to fill it, I fill it.

With the water on and towing I can NOT get above 1200*. Just simply cant do it.

Water... I run about 9 gallons every 500-800 miles depending on how much I use it.

I only use it when towing, dont need it any other times.

Always thought about running this. But just the thought of water injected into the engine sounds bad.

Too much water is bad but your injecting a pretty small amount. It lowers intake charge.

I would not drive a tow rig without it.

Started out with Snows, but moved up to Cooling Mist...

Install is as hard as any other install. About the same as installing a set of gauges.

Ace / DenHartog 20 Gallon Applicator Rectangle Tank With Sump (A-SP0020-LC)

Here is the tank I'm using and I am just going to be using coolingmists' kit for the most part. I'm more worried about any water leaking into the cylinders, almost like a siphon. Hopefully a slenoid or check valve should solve this issue. I'm planning to have it switch operated (on/off) if coolingmist does not include one. I would like to get their stage 2 setup so I am not flowing at a max flow rate at low boost levels but can turn down the flow...I have not played with their controller yet at all but I'd like to be able to have this capability.

I would also like to be able to run a very low charge while highway driving... I do not know why it would not improve mileage??? and in the long run a cooler running engine should be a bit more happy.

I figure most of you guys are going to run your nozzle before the Y but what would be the disadvantages of going before the IC? Water buildup in the? I know the air going through the pipes is pretty darn hot and even a slight charge would be absorbed fairly easy pre cooler and then maybe have a secondary charge post cooler?

You can run a large injector Pre IC but have it come on only at 25-30psi. That way the outlet temps of your turbo are hot enough to warrent it. Otherwise it will just cool and build up in your intercooler.

When I was running more nozzles I had one small one post IC and a large one post IC. Plus one pre IC.

Running just one nozzle right now.

Joe (CSIPSD), or others of course, looking at a couple of systems, Cooling Mist seems to have a couple of reasonable options, without having to spend 6-800 bucks.
I am thinking of 1-2 gallon tank, mounted in my tool box (bed), one nozzle. Used for towing mostly. I am just trying to keep egt's down. Extra power or mpg is a plus.
Sound reasonable? Am I trying to be cheap, do I really need progressive controllers, etc.?
Thanks.

I would look at an 8 gallon tank for towing, you will run thru 2 gallons in a few hundred miles.

Good point. I have been looking more into the tanks. Cooling Mist's 7 gallon (12.2x15x8.5) is a couple of inches smaller than Snow's 7 (15x18x9).
An interesting array of options with the solenoids and valves.
Do you use tap water or distilled? I am thinking distilled due to the small orifice sizes.
