2002 v10 idle problem
Hello all. I'm stumped. I have a 02 f350 v10 4x4 6 speed. It use to be a auto and I recently converted to 6 speed. It has 100k miles on it. It constantly stalls out while idling. Or as soon as I go to take off. With the auto it stalled a lot when put in gear. I have cleaned the iac valve replaced the maf. New fuel filter. Air filter. Checked for vacuum leaks and have not found any. It runs good but does have a random misfire. I ordered 10 could and motorcraft plugs I'll change them this week. Could that make it stall out. It acts like I just turn the key off when it quits. It restarts just fine. If I catch it and hit the gas it won't quit. Any ideas? All help greatly appreciated.

It sounds like a COP issue. One or more of your Coil-On-Plugs is probably out. You could try changing the boots and see if it is a boot problem. I just went through this. Year before last I changed out one COP, then last year another, this year another. I would check all of the COP boots, see if any of them are wet or corroded, the boots are very cheap. If that doesn't work then change out the really wet, corroded or otherwise nasty ones with new COPs.

IMHO...it sounds like your IAC. I know you cleaned it...but sometimes they need to be replaced...because a cleaning just doesn't do it.
Plus...when you changed trannies from 4R100 to your 6-spd manual...did you reprogram or replace the PCM??? It is my understanding that the program on the PCM is dependent on Auto or manual tranny...

I used the PCM from the donor 6 speed trk. I pulled all plugs coils and the whole throttle body off tonite. The throttle body was very gummed up. I cleaned it up realy good. I ordered the new iac too. I ckd all vacuum lines and can't find any leaks. So tues I'll b back with some answers. I will have replaced maf iac plugs cops. Cleaned throttle body ckd all vacuum lines. Is there anything else I'm missing or should ck while I'm in there? Did these v10s have any intake gasket probs? I'm debating changing it since I'm about there. But there is no signs it's bad.

She's back together.... Wow she idles and sounds smooth. Went for a 10 mile drive no missing shaking or stalling. Before if the rpm went below 800 it would quit I had to rev it up to get it to go. Not anymore. I'm a thinking she's fixed. I'll go for a longer drive tomorow. Thank for help everyone.

When it comes to ignition on a V10...it has been my personal and FTE experience to go Motorcraft. That is coil, boot, and plugs.
IMHO...it sounds like you might need a trip to the dealer or local shop and have them run diagnostics...
