1996 bronco ?'s
I found a 1996 bronco i want to buy it is an XLT with pwr windows, mirrors, locks has leather seats all red exterior (i think it is call the sport package or something) and grey interior. It is an automatic with the 5.8 (351) with 46,xxx miles. one question is i found gas mileage on one sit to be 12/16 is that about right and also what are the HP/Torque #'s for the 5.8. Any other info and of buying tips and things to look for would be appreciated.Oh yeah they are asking $12,800 which is high retail but i haven't tried dealing yet and it is what Ive been looking for a 96 5.8 with low miles.
thanks in advance

The XLT Sport package is sort of rare, so it's worth a little more than the typical low-mileage '96 XLT Bronco. I don't know about $13K Get a NADA book for your area and see what they're going for at auction. The used car manager at any dealership should have a current (quarterly) copy and shouldn't mind showing you something he's not selling. It sounds like this guy got rooked and spent too much, and now he's trying to save his xxx by passing on his bad judgement.

yo,
Sounds like the XLT Sport that we looked at in May 96! We bargained the dealer down to $25,800.00 plus T&T, but passed on it after finding the XL we eventually bought for under $20k incl T&T. So keep the $25k figure in mind when looking at the KBB, NADA or Blackbook http://www.cars.com/advice/advice_**...******.jhtml.3)
Look for a rusty oil pan; bad auto hubs (click .. click) & electric X'fer case operation; leaky radiator plastic side seams, esp. during engine/coolant cool down period; rusty inner rear fender lips and tailgate bottom (lower the 'gate to see the drain area); tc shudder, and O/D Cancel Light Malfunction.
