I know, not another tire thread! I have a 2011 F250 XLT 4x4 SCAB LB and I was wondering if anyone is running a 295/70/18 without any rubbing issues. For reference I was looking hard at the Nitto Terra Grapplers in this size. Thanks for any input!
I have 295 60 20 Terra Grapplers on my 2011 CC 4x4 with no rubbing at all. According to Nitto's website the 295 60 20 is a little taller and a little wider than the 295 70 18. You should be good to go. Here are pics of my truck with the factory 18's and crappy Continentals and then with Ford factory 20's with the Nitto's.
I don't know about on your 2011 but I run 305/70x18 Procomp XMTs on my non-lifted 2007 F350 with no problems at all. That includes pre-running the Mint400 course and rough off-roading with 3000+lbs of camper/gear on board.
Keep in mind that what clears on the road (where suspension travel is minimal) might not clear when a wheel is stuffed fully up into the wheel well.
Thanks for the reassurance. The truck looks pretty sad with those wide open wheel wells, almost cartoony. The 295 is barely an inch wider, I suppose I could turn the wheels from lock to lock and measure the clearance.
Well, after lots of debating in my head (I still don’t know who won), I decided that my lifted truck with aftermarket wheels days are over. I went with the largest OEM size, 275-70-18, in the form of BFG AT TKO’s. A tried and true tire, looks a lot better, and fills the wheel wells up a bit more. Great ride so far, now if I can only figure out why the TPMS light is on
I looked at the specs on that tire, I thought that the diameter was the same as my Michelin LTX AT2's. I think that the Continental size from the factory is slightly smaller.

After staring at it for a few hours, there is obviously less space in the wheel wells. Tire Rack has the contis’s being a smig taller at a 275-65-18, but the 275-70-18 BFGs’ sit easily an inch higher over all. I’ll try to get pics, currently in the middle of bolting a bunch of stuff to the truck...
Oh well. What made you change your mimd from getting the 295's? Not that there's something wrong with the 275's but I was expecting to see those 295's because that's the size i want to get to my truck and in BFG also.

Maybe I didn’t look hard enough, but I could not find a BFG in 295. I was afraid sidewalls on a 295 would look to “Balloony” on an 8” wheel. I like the way they ride, quieter than stock (more rubber?) just a tiny bit of understeer, but I don’t drive a 7300 lb truck like I drove my WRX anyways so no worries there.

Only MINOR rubbing on the plastic fender liner on the driver's side, in reverse, at full lock.
Note that the dealer CANNOT reprogram '11's and '12's for change of tire size to correct the speedometer.
There was always a slight deviation with the speedo on this thing. I only jumped from a 65 to 70 aspect ratio so it should not be that bad. I’ll drive with the gps today to see which direction it went, hopefully closer to true.
You're right. They don't make the BFG A/T in 295. So 305 would've been your next choice, but as you said they could've ended up being ballony on the rim. Nice choice, I'll take BFG over continental any time.
