1977 F100 Emissions Diagrams
I am seraching for an emissions daigram for a 1977 ford shortbed
with a 400cid engine, c6 automatic, power steering & power brakes. The newspaper in our area contained an article that an emissions inspection program will be implemented in our area starting in 2004. (northwestern Pa) This will be a visual inspection only. I have been checking local sources for this information without success. All of the emissions pluming was removed from this vehicle before I purchased it. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

The calibration code for your engine is 8-62J-RO.
Here is a diagram that should work.
Your tune-up specs can be found near the bottom of this page.

I obtained the following information off the emissions tag on the left side valve cover:
Engine Family 351M/400A (1CV7) EGR/AIR/CAT
the ford part # on the tag is DTE-9C485-BCO
the build tag on the right valve cover is HK615CB the letter row & number row at the bottom of the tag has The B & the 7 punched out respectively.
as far as I can tell from the numbers stamped into the front face of the block this engine was built in July of 1977
A little history on emissions inspections in our area: In 1994 the dreaded IM240 testing procedure was scheduled to go into effect. In novemeber of 1993 a republican governor was elected & the whole program for our area was scrapped. Several environmental groups were not very happy. In 2002 they filed suit in federal court in Philadelphia & the judge ruled that the state must implement an inspection program in Erie County starting in 2004. It seems that we are now being ruled by judicial edict rather than the state legislature.

Hey, thanks a Mil1ion!
I am needing this info soon so I'm glad he asked!
I followed the link below the pics and found much to print! That and your vacuum routing picture from you earlier has really been great!
General question: If the emissions system is properly maintained as designed and other enhancements made like building the 351 as a 400, won't it be less of a polluter? Air quality in our area is out of attainment so I like doing my part --as much as reasonable/possible anyway.

I guess I was intriqued by the article in one of the links here about how the systems worked... recirculating cooler exhausts through hotter oxygen deprived gases to reduce nitrous oxides. Engineer did that was clever, at least in theory.
But I understand the sentiment.

This here sticker is the important one.
It is on a valve cover.

Just priced them. Truck is 30 miles away so I'll have to wait for weekend to check it out the pump.
Ask you a question... or just muse... I just went to get an EGR and after quote of $60-80 i'm now thinking that I agree that maybe returning all that back to original may be not only expensive but not the best for running...
That may be a big duh to you, but to me it seemed easier to follow the recipe books than trying to figure out what can go away and how... it's not like I have a picture book showing what to plug up and not to...
I'll be asking more later, but if I have to buy egr, air pump and check valves and other pieces to have trouble prone system or simply remove it all, well.... no wonder people don't do it.
