Arrow 1995 F150 XLT 4X4 Issues

OK, first time poster here. A little back ground on me. I'm mechanically understanding but not formally trained. I guess more of a DIY kinda guy. Oh and I'm not really good with electrical issues, hate those. So the issues.....
My 95 5.8L is having issues with selecting the front fuel tank. I spits and sputters and dies, but runs just fine and strong on rear tank. I have read some other threads on here and was wondering if the 3 port fuel selector valve could be the issue. Duralast/Universal 3 port fuel selector valve used with SW48 toggle switch (FSV4) | Fuel Tank Selector Valve | AutoZone.com
I have not trouble shooted anything as of yet. I plan on checking the sending side of the front tank soon. What the hell does this thing do anyway? Couldn't you jsut T or Y off the 2 tanks into the high pressure line and be done?

Also, I would like to know what electric fans to look for and where in order to replace my stock fan and clutch.
Finally, has anyone heard of modifing the air intake in order to fit a spectre or K&N air filter. Mine has the twin air inlet tubes. The stock box system robs the hp.
Thanks in advance.

As far as fans go use 94-97 tbird or cougar fan. Use the 460 or 300 intake tube that pulls air in from thru the grille.

For the dual tank fuel issue, Ford simplified things in 1991. Your truck has a module in each tank, about the size of a large soup can that contains the fuel pump and a valve for return fuel. When you select the forward tank, the pump in that tank pushes fuel out and opens a valve to accept return (unused) fuel to that tank. These EFI fuel systems supply way more fuel than is needed, and most of it circulates back to the tank before being consumed - think of it like the injectors sipping a little fuel from a large fast stream. Anyway, on your 1995 there is no 3 way selector at all, the modules in tank take care of switching supply and return fuel. This is a very simple and robust two tank system. In this case diagnosis is simple - if it doesn't run on the forward tank, then you have a bad connection, bad pump, or contamination in that tank.
