09 f150 sync and radio not working
Hi, my radio and sync systems stopped working yesterday. I still have display information, "built ford tough" on the screen, but none of the buttons work.
I tried to "reboot" by pulling the battery cable, and also switched the 5 amp sync fuse with the 5 amp radio mute fuse. No dice. Any other suggestions before I take it in?

So here's what happened, $123 later. A technician pulled out my "ACM" or head unit and put it back in and it worked again, he then had to "re-program" it. Surprisingly, the radio still had all my programmed stations, and sync and phone settings were still in tact, which was nice, but I would think that it would be like the first day I got it if it was "re-programed".

Radio says built ford tough
I see this is an older thread, but i have researched for weeks looker for an answer other than the dealer. Well yesterday I pulled the main fuse I think its fuse 48 on the 2010 the big square one and turned the key on and magically the radio is working with the fuse out... So i turned the key off and plugged the fuse back in and retried it and it works fine now... just had to reset the clock... all my presets were still there. Hope this helps.

Radio Fixed 09 SCREW XLT
I had the same "built ford tough" display, as well as the temp and compass outputs. I searched the fuse box for blown fuses m, but found none.
The fix was to remove and reconnect the battery cable. The clock and radio are working again, and my preset stations are intact.

My 2009 F-150 Platinum with 307,000 kms that's 190,700 miles for all the non metric folks. The radio and sync systems stopped working the other day and the only thing on the display was "sound designed by sony." My friend hooked up his scanning tool and received an error message stating "communication lost with media center." I recently had an aftermarket remote starter/alarm installed a few weeks earlier and thought it may have something to do with it, so I went to the installers and had it all disconnected temporarily. After reading some of the posts about what some of you experienced on here yesterday, I decided to just disconnect all the positive leads to the battery terminal for a few minutes and then reconnect them. Like magic a simple reset was all that was required, everything now works fine again.

If reboot fails..then most likely the copper coil wrap inside the radio has come loose.
I personally have repaired many of these..remove the radio, open it up find the copper coil and on the back of the mother board will most likely be a burned hole where the solder got hot and fell out.clean out the area and drop a new bead of solder In making sure to make contact with the coil.. reassemble the radio .plug into the vehicle and you should hear the CD drive spin up..then you will know you have succeeded..good luck!...save your money! It really is a simple fix
