I know you guys you can help.
1981 Ford Bronco 4.9L 1BBL Newer re-man from advance. It sat for 6 months with the truck.
Well I started the truck after being not started for 6 months or so. i put enough of fuel directly in the carb prior to start and it did after a few revolutions of the engine it ran for 15 mins with ease I had no problem so I turned it off for the night. I tried to start it the next morning it would not. So after a few pumps of the accelerator and several turns of the engine it started and ran for 15 20 secs. Then today I made sure today that I had fuel I had plenty. And eventually it did run for 30 45 secs then died and will not run. I am assuming I have spark but I guess i cant assume that bc it keeps cutting of? Or I am getting to much fuel? Bad coil? Bad Ignition modle?
I have search something like this on the forums but can't find anything.
I am going to start testing the ignition modle, defiantly see if I have spark, and figure out how to test the ignition coil.
But any advice is welcomed. I don't have a lot of experience. I am still learning.
Thank you guys

Check yer fuel filter. If that is ok..take out a spark plug and see if it is getting fire.
For an engine to run it has to have fuel with correct pressure, spark and timing correct, and air...all have to be timed exactly on the mark.
If the spark plugs have spark then yer coil and ignition is good.

Thanks guys! I sure do enjoy the knowledge of the member of this site contains.
That is the first thing I checked was the fuel in general. Had a good pressure to the carb and the accelerator pump was doing its job. So I moved to the Spark part of the trio. No spark on the first two spark plugs I tried. Both looked fine like normal color and all. So I moved to the coil itself NO spark. So I look up how much the Control Module was bc I didn't know how to test them exactly and I read that they will work one day and won't another day and that sounded like my problem and considering who knew how old it really was?! So I went to the parts house and picked up the module and coil for $35 after I returned some other core stuff. So got back to the house and plugged and played!!! First crank started right up no problem. I got the coil bc it was the same one the truck came with!! That is what my dad told me. He bought the truck new in 1981!! Crazy.
WELL thank you guys again. I hope this can help someone else.

Yeah, most parts stores can test them... the problem is, they give absolutely NO warning when they go most of the time. The fact that yours ran for a few seconds at a time would be considered by most who know the system as the most warning a dying module will EVER give. Since they are solid-state technology and epoxy-encased, even if you can determine that one is about to die, there is no way to fix it.
