Brad, could you freshen an engine up over there if you could get a good used runner from here? Or do you prefer a drop in runner new or with low miles?

4EXTRDR is gaining momentum as a positive member of FTE.
My advice would be a 12 valve - 5.9 Cummins as already mentioned, it should fit easier and doesn't require half the electronics our 7.3's do. Also with the exception of the "killer dowel pin" which can be easily fixed before installing, they pretty much don't break so parts wouldn't be a problem. Our 7.3's dont break either however they will require sensors and little things every so often to keep them happy and I assume getting parts where you are at isn't easy either....either way your 5-speed trans is going to be crying in no time!

Do you guys have Isuzu box trucks down there? Pop a 4 cylinder Isuzu truck motor in it!

No headers for this engine since it has a turbo but there is at least one company offering a S/S option for an aftermarket turbo mount kit: Untitled 1

I'm not aware of any S/S exhaust manifold options for the 7.3, there are some available for the 5.9 cummins though.

i know what tugly is talking about but cant remember the thread either...

from what i remember tho the truck is already gone and replaced with an ex?

you might try a rebuildable core on ebay and do it up proper if it will be a tribute truck...
of course that also might get a little expensive...

i have been seeing quite a few good looking motors on ebay lately.
if you find one you like... maybe one of us is close enough to it to pick it up and see it off to the freight company your way...

just thoughts...
oh! car-part.com try that too...

p.s.

i have to ditto on the powertrain holding up to the stroker...
the badassness you witnessed in that truck was not just the motor...
the 4r100 is a marvel all into itself. to make all the rediculous torque from the 7.3 pull an 11,000lb truck hard enough give you the giggles requires a whole lot going on behind the scenes... also...
suspension...
these things weigh half a ton.
what will that do when you hit the muck/sand with your wheelbase?
need to change out front suspension to beef it up
been thinking about stuffing one in my 82 f150... keep us posted eh?

If it was me, and it's not, I would be going with a 4bt cummins for that rig. Do a search on them, a very popular swap for smaller vehicles. It can be made to have plenty of power too.

There's a forum I found doing a quick search that might give you some better insight.

If possible, I would like to get a running motor, that has never been opened, with low millage. I also need all the computer related items, and censors, as well as the complete wiring harness, and if possible the ignition with keys, and instrument panel. I will certainly also consider a ZF6 manual transmission with transfer case

This also may have turned into work for me I now have 7 guys who want these conversions done once the see mine is a success. For economic reasons it would be better for me to get running motors, that have never been worked on. Getting all the items listed above, shipped to me from California is going to cost just over $3000-00 in shipping alone.

For my first shipment, I am considering getting 2 motors ( and transmissions, if available ) depending what I end up paying.

Rebuilding a motor that is worn out is not a problem, but I will first need to get a price on all the stuff I need, and then see what the landed cost will be after the govt. departments add on all their profits.

Tugly

I really feel for that poor guy besides the gorgeous truck, I hope everything is ok with him.

4EXTRDR

I have had 2 guy ask about the 5.9 Cummins, but they also plan on waiting until my Powerstroke is done.

The 4cyl Isuzus on this end probably wont get you over 60mph, and probably no more power than a 1970s diesel 6 cyl Landcruiser.

I am considering the ZF6 option because of all the ??? about the Cruiser 5sp. Onc I get mine done, Ill have a good idea whatto do with the others.

honeydew

Thanks SS manifold idea solved. Will stick with the originals.

Chrictof13T

Many thanks for the offer good chance Ill be giving you a call.

Friend at Toyota motorsport on this end has agreed to help me with all the changes to the front end.

WA.Ranger

Im doing a little research for the guys who have required about the Cummins

Thanks again.

Brad

P.S. Can anyone tell me which side of the ZF6 transmission the transfer case is mounted.?

This guy near me buys a lot of trucks 7.3L only, might be worth contacting him to see if he can put together a package to meet your needs: 7.3 PowerStroke Engine

Yes that's him. I haven't dealt with him personally but have heard of a couple local guys who got engines from him and were satisfied. Your agent might be able to coordinate shipping out of Miami which is about 120 miles south of Ft. Pierce.
