Why so much hatred for Cold Air Intakes
So i been scouring through the forum to increase my knowledge of my baby and when it comes to the cold air intake and throttle body spacers everyone is against them.
I watch all the truck/car shows and thats one of the first things they do when modifying them is to throw on a cold air intake and a less restrictive exhaust. Breathe in better and exhale better.
Is there any proof one way or the other or is it all personal experience and hear say.

The idea of a cold air intake is to take in cooler air which crams into the cylinders better and you get a more complete burn with the air fuel mixture. Its kinda useless with naturally aspirated engines. A turbo helps to push that air into the cylinders.
The benefit of a cold air intake on a pretty much stock engine is not worth the time for the gains.
In the end its personal preference for the person that likes having an 8" chrome exhaust tip on their truck with 2" pipe coming off the manifold.....

Umm
I think what you mean is ON OUR TRUCKS it's not a big deal. (because the 05-07 mustangs the airbox is quite restrictive)
The intake on our trucks is not lacking plenum volume, so a tb spacer does not help any at all that you can feel or see on the Dyno with a stock engine.
A cold air intake is kinda pointless because our trucks already get fresh air to the airbox and with a 460/300 airbox snout, there won't be any restriction there.
We always tell people not to "waste" their money on a cold air kit, because most people want to buy the 270$ k&n kit. When it does zero for mileage or power OF OUR TRUCKS
It may help lots of other vehicles but NOT OURS. There have been lots of us on here spend our own money for these products and Dyno time to disprove all of the myths out there.
For our trucks a drop in washable filter and a bump in timing will help the most.
Long tube headers and free flowing exhaust helps a bunch.
Cam swap is very noticeable.

For our trucks, won't make a difference unless you are running a high horsepower engine. However,it does work for some vehicles. I put one on my 2005 focus to get rid of the "lifetime" crap filter ford put on there from the factory. Result? better gas mileage if I keep my foot out of it,and picked up a few horsepower!!

as the others said, a cold air intake is simple a waste of money on our trucks.
and the sole purpose of throttle body spacers is to make the sellers wallet fatter and yours thinner.
a throttle body spacer does absolutely nothing.
there are people that swear they they felt more power or saw better fuel mileage after putting one on, but the only thing they do is make the throttle body 1 inch farther away from the intake ports in the head.

My rant is that people remove a factory air cleaner that draws cool air from ,usually, under the fender and replaces it with a CAI that draws HOT air from the engine compartment. If you're going to do a CAI at least box it and draw from outside the engine compartment. Seems pretty pointless to me on a 300!
