c4 c6 swap....?...

So i swapped my blown c4 out for a c6 that was just taking up room at a friends shop. Well i tried to start it and it and it wont start it does this fast then slow turn(the fly wheel) Does this mean its not balanced correctly? or did i install it wrong? Is the starter going? any help would be great...

So the trans is bolted to the engine, the start installed, and all you get is a spinning starter, right? Does the starter engage the flexplate and spin that as well?

Something is installed incorrectly, and may now be damaged. OR you have the wrong depth starter.

As for balance, read thisee here:

Ford Flywheels and Flexplates

You may have a simple mismatch or a fubar trans.

Either way, it's probably gotta come out.

yes the starter engages the flexplate and the first time i started it, it ran perfect...I think i will get the c4 rebuilt and sell the c6, but thank you for the response.

So the engine turns over, not just a spinning flexplate?

OK, one more time. In every case where you try to start it, does:

--the engine turn over EVERY time?

--sometimes the engine turns over, sometimes ONLY the flywheel spins?

OK, a no start with the engine spinning.

Back to basics. Fuel & spark. Check all the wires, especially anything in the work areas.

Fuel filter, vacuum leaks--did you hook up the modulator?
