Fuel Gauge.

I filled up the tank yesterday, 35.7 gallons when the "low fuel" light had just come on but the needle was still above the E line so a few gallons still in it. Gauge is above the Full line after fill up.

I've since driven 71.4 miles since fill up and the needle hasn't moved from above the Full line. Normal?

Mine is the same way, only I go farther before it moves because its 60gal. Its accurate after the first 1/8 of a tank down to empty. Always been that way.

Sounds normal...

I drive about 800 miles before mine moves, then I know I have about 400 miles to go.

Same here - After a fill up it seems like I can drive for 2 hours & it wont budge off full, then when I stop to take a break- get back in & start her up then it shows 3/4 tank.

Seems about normal. My pickups both have the short bed so only a 29 gallon tank (I think..). I'll usually drive 100-125 miles before the needle drops below the Full mark. Just over 200 miles at around the 3/4 mark. Just over 300 miles at the half tank mark. 400 miles at 1/4 tank and then I better start thinking about stopping again because that last 1/4 tank burns quick.
Sounds like you have a long bed so you should go further for each increment on the gauge.

I normally get around 450 miles per tank. On rare occasions I can stretch over 500 miles per tank but that isn't too common for me.

That sounds almost like a carbon copy description of what I get with my SWB tank.

I have the short box with a 29 gallon tank. When my gauge gets to 1/4 tank I am just about out of fuel. Is this the sending unit or just a sticky float in the tank?

I have a dually with an 8" bed, mine is the same way. I can drive 100 to 125 miles before it moves off full. My low fuel light will come on with 5 gallons in the tank, ( just under 1/4 tank on the gauge) It has a 38 gallon tank. All bets are off when it sets over night if it is cold, sometimes i have to drive for 30 minutes before the gauge will read correct.

Heck, mine only works from just under 1/2 to empty, above that and it's all over the place.
I reset my trip every time I fill her just to be safe.

When I first bought the truck I would go around 70-80 miles before the fuel gage needle would start going down after a fill-up.

I've done the Harpoon mod (clipped the filler and vent lines in the fuel tank) and since then (5 years ago) I go about 125-135 miles before the needle starts to move.
