KBJ's new dent

Ok. I'm finally done searching for a truck (or as Numberdummy would put it a rolling pile of misery). Here she is...

Another picture:

& the last one for now :

So... what do you think ?

Cool . Did it come with the blade for the plow?

Shoot them white wheels. It looks, well, "naked".

Now to tell y'all FTE'ers what I know about the truck. This truck was bought to be used as a plow truck when it was new. It was only used during the winter. It had at least three previous owners before me. Sometime in my truck's life it had a swap to a 4 barrel Holley & had its exhaust manifolds replaced with headers (but I still have the manifolds). It hasn't been driven on the street for the past 10 to 12 years (the tags that came with the truck expired in 2008). It still has its protect-o-plate signed by the first owner of my truck. Its tailgate was lost sometime ago.

I'm not concerned about that yet. I need to get a new steering column & a brake booster for it before I do anything else.

Now to tell you what problems the truck has (That me & my brother in law discovered) so far:

- Brake booster is shot
- The steering column is busted (due to the previous owner's wife)
- The truck's lights either needs a new fuse(s) or needs rewired.
- The passenger side header is shot (the collecter is rusted out)
- The bracket (there might be a different name for this part but I don't know it) for the rear u-joint needs replaced (well that is what my brother in law said)
- The bed is rusted out (I don't know if I want a new "stock" bed or a flatbed yet)
- The tailgate is missing

Nope. The blade that was on it was gone before the previous owner got it in circa 2007.

The side story:

This truck was not driveable for the distance between the previous owner's house & mine. The truck that towed it to my house was a... 1980's GMC Serria 1 ton.

Looks like a good starter project! Get the brakes and powertrain figured out first. The body work can wait, but the rest can't.

How exactly is the steering column busted?

U-joint bracket... are you talking about a hangar bearing?

Well at the time when my truck's previous owner had it he needed to pull a vehicle off the vehicle trailer (I don't really remember the details) he had his wife drive it. Remember how I told y'all that the brake booster was shot (it happened sometime before its last previous owner got it)... well she didn't know that & she tried one of those panic stops where you put all the force you can to get it to stop & she used the column as a point of leverage & busted it worse (The column was a little loose at that time but it was still useable).

It might be the hanger bearing. But, I'll get a picture of what I was talking about when I take more truck **** later today.

Thanks, nebo. It was pretty much as discribed in the craigslist ad it was listed in. It does haul the mail for the few miles I put on for the test drive.

Can anyone decode this for me ? Or do I need to start a new thread for the VIN ? (I'm trying not to be impatient but I really want to know what it means & I've been waiting for this moment since I got the truck.)
