VIN Decode Help

Can't find a decoder that will give me more info on this VIN number. The biggest problem I have is the year of the vehicle.

Thanks for the help!

Here's your decode - F10 = 2 wheel drive truck. A = 240 cubic inch I-6, 1 bbl engine, P = built in Twin Cities, MN. 775601 = built in Nov, '65 as a '66 model year vehicle. 129 = wheelbase in inches. W = medium blue exterior paint color. F100 = 5000 pound GVW half ton truck. 281 = Standard Cab with Medium Blue Crush Vinyl and Medium Blue Wicker Pattern Vinyl upholstery. 5000 = your maximum gross vehicle weight. 129 @ 4000 = your engines maximum NET horsepower and the rpms where it is achieved. 441034 = Domestic Special Order from the Twin Cities District Sales Office. Your truck was special ordered, not just bought off the lot. Hope this helps!

That helps immensely! I had no idea what the year is, and have now been schooled.

I found it interesting that the truck was special ordered. Hasn't made it too far away from the Ford plant since it was made (still near the twin cities)...

44 = Twin Cities Ford District Sales Office, where the original selling dealer ordered the truck from

1034 = Domestic Special Order number. Something was installed on the truck by the original purchasers request that was not an RPO (Regular Production Order). This could have been a special body for one example.

Another is non standard paint color(s), but this doesn't apply here.

Since there would not have been any parts catalog reference for the special equipment, if parts were needed, the dealer contacts Ford, passes along the DSO.

Ford looks up the order number, then tells the dealer where the parts could be found.

This same system is still used today.
