New to 7.3 world

Hey guys I just picked up a 99 f250 7.3. Ive been doing some research on them and there seem to be quite a few mods that you can do to these trucks. I was wondering if yall could give some suggestions as to which mods to do. It will be my daily driver and I wont be pulling much over a trailer with a couple of atvs on it every once in a while. Will mostly be highway driving with a couple of dirt roads now and then. Looking for some ways to get a little more power and economy out of this truck. Also some cheap diy mods that can me done to it. Thanks in advance guys

I just figured out that my truck is an early 99. I know that there are differences between the early 99 and the late 99-03 7.3. Is it worth the money to do the late 99 conversion on this motor?

Do the other mods first. Get a custom chip to. Then if you decide to go SS injectors, do the update to late 99. Clay sells a great kit. And new turbo will really make it come alive. I had a DP tune F5 on my early setup, and believe me its a big difference and you mit want to quite there. The again, it mit be just the begaining, Good luck and keep us posted for questions and what you do. We like to listen also.

Ok guys I think for now I'm gonna do the 6637 intake, 4" mbrp exhaust, gauges, and a DP F5 tuner. Not all at the same time but that's my plans for it. I've also read that updating to the new PCM will help the truck. Also the IDM I think is what it's called. If you guys have any info on this it would be appreciated. My goal is to get this truck up around 325 hp, 350 at the most if possible

Your 325 hp goal is going to put you around the top of what your going to get out of your e99 set up. Leave the PCM alone if you get the F5 DP tuner will be able to dial it in. You have a nice mod list going and I think youll be happy with what you get with it. The tuner is going to make the biggest difference in your truck. I would do them in the order you have them listed in your above post

I've been meaning to get on here for the past few days but I've got to many projects goin lol. Anyway I appreciate everybody giving their opinion on what I need to do. I'm going to start slowly changing all the fluids and what not so I'll know they're good and i can keep up with the maintenance. The PO ran rotella 15w40 and the truck has 175000 miles on it. I was wondering if the extra cost to going to synthetic would be worth it? Also what type of fluids do y'all recommend for rear diff, trans, engine, etc. And ive been reading about a new valve body for the trans. Would that be worth putting in while I'm changing the fluid and filter? Sorry for asking all these newb questions just trying to learn as much as I can. Luckily my dad has owned an 02 SD for about a year so I know a little bit about them but not a whole lot

Slow down Grasshopper.

You have a new truck to you and you are trying to change everything over night. This is a great truck with NO changes. What many here do is a tweek here and a tweek there. Go slow with your changes and enjoy your truck.

On the main 7.3 page on the upper right hand side, there is a button for 'Search this Forum'. Type in some main words and a lot of threads will pop up.

Welcome to the Ford Truck Enthusiasts Brotherhood.

I have to agree with Brother Les. We all drive our trucks every day most of the time. When we upgrade our truck its because theres something that we dont like about it. Theres always something that will bother someone that wont bother the next guy.
Drive it for a couple weeks after doing the basics for getting a new truck, go threw it get to know it, let that new to you truck feeling wear off a little bit. Id hate to see you spend your money on something that you wouldnt other wise care about.

I run T6 in the winter because it stops my truck from romping on those cold mornings. In the summer I run T5. When I have the money, which I havent for some time now, I run amsoil year round.

If you do decide to go with a valve body go with a John Wood VB, I dont have one but from what others have said you cant go wrong with it and its a great upgrade.

For the diffs. and most eveything else I like amsoil but everyone has there own opinoin.

We were all newbs at one point, your headed in the right direction, guzzles pages will be your friend through out the ownership of your truck, Chris already posted the link but Ill post it agian Welcome to guzzle's Ford PSD Web Pages

EDIT: This is where most of us get our parts from, Clay is a great guy and has some of the best prices with awesome customer service http://www.riffraffdiesel.com/category/F97-03.html

I probably should have updated this a while ago but it slipped my mind lol. I actually did not end up with this truck. I had talked to the guy and he said he would sell it to me so I sold my other pickup and went to the bank to get the loan. When I showed up at his house with the money he started crawfishing on me. I ended up finding the truck I have now which is an 02 and had 105000 on it when I bought it. So I guess it worked out better for me in the end but it still ticked me off that he backed out on me lol

Appreciate it smokiesman. Her are some pics of my truck.

It had some 265/75R16 cooper poopers on it but one of them seperated so I had to get some new ones. Think it made it look a little better. Went to a 285/75R16
