Factory radio won't comeout suggestions?
Hey everyone, I have a 1992 F150 and I got a new dashpad for it because the old one had a crack in it. I have the tools to take the radio out to replace the dashpad. But when I put the tools in the holes in the radio and pull they just slip and come right back out. I put them in until a hear a click too so idk what the deal is. Any help is good thanks guys

Put the tools in both sides, then try to 'jockey' it out. I find that factory radio removal is a lot like steering wheel removal-sometimes they'll just pop right off, other times you have to use a steering wheel puller and even then its tough. Radios are the same. Its probably been in there since new, so work it a little. While working it, pull towards you. It'll give. Let us know how you make out!

Then you can squeeze your hand in there and push it out with the tools inserted.
Thats how I did mine.
Hope this helps

Yea I started to do that too. But I started to also loose my patience at that point haha. But I'll give it another shot this weekend. The radio has been in there since the truck was brand new. It was my grandfathers truck before it was mine. Thanks for all the tips though guys ill let ya know how I make out.

There is a little problem with this plan,,, remember it's a factory radio, so it should be safe ...... But you're right about the rest of those items!!!

True story...
Driver got tired of his stereo being stolen on several occasions, rigged it to draw blood the next time. Well, the next time rolled around and the police followed the trail to a nearby house. In the end, the thief sued the owner for damages, (loss of work, etc...)
And Won!!!

The radio in my 2001 Ford F250 6.8L V10 would not come out, even with Ford's special tool. Had to basically destroyed my radio to get it out. Broke face place off the radio and then saw WHY the radio would not slide out -- 3 of the 4 tabs were broken. No tool would had gotten the spring part of the broken clips to be released. Radio easily came out once I used a flat screw driver on each side to spring the entire clips so they would clear the dash. Think the spring were broken before since CD had never worked (brought truck with 50,000 miles and now has 250,000+). Will be replacing the radio WITH GOOD TABS. Anyway, got the radio out without destroying the dash. If your tabs are broken (and you will not know it until you dig it out), you will not get the radio out without destroying the radio. Oh well ...
