Vibration After Drive line damage?

I broke the pinion on my bronco A few weeks ago, After swapping out the whole 3rd member this weekend. I have a bad vibration at hwy speeds. I checked all my u joints, and bolts! Made sure I put it all back right, and tight? Not sure what else to look at? Maybe I bent an axle or drive shaft?

You might have bent the driveline a tad bit when it dropped, or scraped some of the metal off from it hitting the ground and dragging? Thats really the only thing i could think of besides this "third member" maybe it has a defect or something. You might try seeing how much a shop would charge to balance the driveline and see what happens.

Yikes. That couldn't have been a good day.

I'd suggest dropping the driveshaft (after making index marks) and rolling it over a couple of 2x4s to see if has a visible wobble. If not, put it back in 180 degrees out and see if the vibe changes.

An event big enough to break that probably didn't do your slip-joint any favors either, another favorite vibe cause.

Good luck!

Well i hope you find a good used one, depending on how bent it is it could cost a pretty penny to rebalance...
