Motorcraft 2150 carb Vent?

I am rebuilding my Motorcraft 2150 carb. It is out of my 66 F-100 that the PO put a 390 FE motor in from a 74ish F-250. I assume this carb comes from the same vehicle, but who knows about any of that . . . tag on the carb identifies it as a 2150.

My vehicle has a manual choke so I assume the automatic choke was removed.

Anyhow my question is this: There was a tube hooked up to the back of the carb. I think it's hooked up to a vent. The other end of the tube was not hooked up to anything. Just dangling there. Is this the way it should be?

A photo is attached illustrating the tube I am referring to:

Thanks.

What is the ID tag number on the carb? The choke pull-off diaphragm in the pic was used 1970/74 with the 2100 series and 1975/76 with the 2150 series.

SOLVED

Found the answer here:

2150 fuel bowl vent tube [Archive] - FSB Forums

Apparently the line originally went to a charcoal canister, but should be left open if no can exists.

If the vent is plugged then that will cause problems explained in the above link.

NumberDummy - if you can confirm that this carb came from a 74 or 75 that would be cool to know. The PO said 1972, but didn't seem to confident in that answer. Thanks.

2150 carbs introduced in 1975 (D5TE-ASA for one example), 1962/74's have 2100 series carbs.

D5TE-ASA = Motorcraft 2150 series carb without CA emission: 1975 F150/350 360 2V from serial number W00,001 & 1976 F150/350 360 2V
