So this week I had an issue pop up on my truck. My power windows quit working. So I go to pull the circuit breaker in the fuse panel to swap it and see if that was the issue. When I grabbed it (little metal rectangle) it burned the crap out of me. I chalked it up to my triplets messing around in the back with their backpacks on waiting for the bus. Figuring they leaned up against a switch and caused the circuit breaker to over heat. After the circuit breaker cooled down, I put it back in, and the windows worked. All good right.....WRONG!
Checked it again just to make sure I didn't have another issue the next day.....burning hot again. So Travis and I set to find out what's going on. I figured that I had a problem in a door jam somewhere. So we started opening and closing doors to see if it would heat up again. It did. So I grabbed the harness feeding the drivers side rear door and wiggled it. Nothing.... Asked Travis to do the same on the passenger side. POP! It almost lit Travis up. We found my problem.
Now to the point. Upon inspecting it, the crappy Ford loom had cracked from years of use, and started cutting the wires. Hence causing the wires to touch. It had almost cut 2 12awg wires in half and two smaller wires. And when we inspected the drivers side, It was almost the same. In all we had to repair 4 wires per side.
So if you have a crew cab with power windows and locks, take a VERY good look at that harness. This could have been bad if the circuit breaker had failed. Thank god it didn't . I figured I'd pass the info along.

Thanks for the heads up. I'll have to take a look at mine. Any idea why Ford used a circuit breaker instead of a fuse?
Anybody know of a good source for the replacement parts to repair these looms? My truck has several splices on the door looms already and I would really like to replace everything before I have an issue like this.
