1 Where would the master cylinder switch be? My master cylinder has no electrical input on end just blank?

2 where is the clutch switch on side of tranny??
3 Is the large plug on fender side where you connect harness

Sorry I sound like a dumb *** but never messed with fords.
The steering wheel horn button should just connect up in steering column???
**** I've gone thru the threads and I cant seem to find my truck year and setup explained.

1. You have to have the cruise control master cylinder which is why I never got one. I just got a switch from the donor and plugged it into my hartness. A small 2 wire connector I believe right below the master cylinder. I figured if my master cyclinder ever went out Id just buy the other one. It is wired into the brake system through the computer too I believe as mine still shuts down when the brakes are applied.

2. Mine is an automatic so I didnt personally do this but I believe it is on the clutch pedal much like a brake light switch.

3. Yes and No one of those plugs is for your diagnostics computers to plug into and the other is for the cruise control.

Honestly when you see it at the JY your jaw will drop at how easy this is.

Wow, all this info is awesome! I need some clarification though.
I have a 97 250HD 5.8/ZF5 without cruise and I have the servo and master cylinder with switch from a 95 250 4.9/e4od I parted. I've sold the column out of that truck.

To put cruise in the 97 could I use the 4.9 servo? As far as the in the cab stuff, I'll need a steering wheel pad with switches. Here's where it gets tricky. Since it's an 250 it doesn't have an airbag. So would I need to pull a pad from a 94-97 250/350 or would the non-arbag pad from a 92-93 150 work as well (more common in the yards than the 250/350 trucks)? I'm mainly worried that the wiring will differ between the vacuum actuated earlier style CC and the later electronic servo version.

Seeing as I likely only need a steering wheel pad to make the upgrade... I do believe I'll be making the upgrade.

You need the pad from a 92/93 F150 or a pad from a 92-97 F250/F350
The 94+ wheel is differ in the f150 because of the airbag

Thanks. I know the airbag wheel is different. My concern is if there is a difference between the wiring on the earlier vac assisted cruise vs the later electronic servo cruise.

I have a NIB factory Ford add-on cruise control for a 90's Econoline (I think) that I would sell if anyone needs it. $50.00 plus the ride. I'll take a look at it and see what the actual application is. It's a vacuum unit….

just curious while we are on the subject. Anyone have a cruise control 92-96 that went out on them? I'm sure i could figure it out if I looked into it more, but if someone on here knows of a common failure it would save a lot of time. Thanks guys. mine is a 95 f-150 4.9 M50D

The switch on top of the master cylinder failed on my truck,(95 f150 5.8L) there was brake fluid inside the metal contacts. Fortunately the previous owner had recall work done and the fix was to install a connector that had an inline fuse. If that hadn't been installed my truck would have likely caught fire.

I went to a dealership and they sold me a new switch and connector which had no fuse in it.
I understand that the new switch is supposed to not fail but I now leave my CC disconnected.
YouTube f150 fire and that's all you'll need to see to convince you to get rid of CC.
I intend on removing the cruise control and airbag.

Hmmm...I'm getting ready to yank all the cruise stuff out of my '88 in a few days time. No idea if it works or not...I haven't tried it in the year I've owned the truck. I'm dropping a carb'ed motor, so everything not essential to keep the motor running is getting ditched...

It IS important to correct the master cylinder switch. Get the recall or buy an updated switch. Look at your switch " if it's red you're dead, if it's black you're ok Jack".

The cruise system is simple. You have the master cylinder switch, the brake pedal switch, The clutch pedal switch since yours is a manual, the clockspring and the control buttons. I still have to convert my 94 TO cruise but I'm still working to get it on the road first. Does your SRS air bag still function, no air bag light?

The clock spring is likely to be the culprit of both malfunctions. Count the flashes of the SRS light when you turn on the switch.

I have a 96 F250, 5.7L, E40D trans. I have installed the servo unit, wheel, and used the master cyl switch to jumper. Mine doesn't seem to even turn on, much less work. Where should I start troubleshooting?

Excellent info in this thread! I'm picking up a '92 F150 Custom without cruise, so I will probably look into adding this at some point in the future. Seems relatively easy to get it working with JY parts.
