Heater

Hey Bob J, you are going to love this one. A cheap "heater". Plays music too. Guess he figures the tubes give off heat.

A couple of years ago you could get a 6v. heater for $25 on epay. I bought a few of them. Prices have gone up I see.

LOL the first thing I thought of. Dress him up as a wheelbarrow this year...
Your heater reminds me of when I was a little kid. Dad had a '74 Ford 2 wheel 1/2 ton. we were big into camping then. Us kids(4 of us) rode in the back. He built this slide in bench, it wrapped all around the bed sides and front. Made out of plywood then foam padding and carpet squares. My sisters would complain they were cold... so dad had this self contained heater mounted to the bedfloor. it had hose ran to it from the motor. your
expanded metal cover is what it looked like where the heat came out.
I always made fun of them for being whiners!(but the heat did feel good)

No his name was Fluffy! Liked to chase cars but was not too good at it. Was a mutt of some sort with a lot of hair, one summer got fleas real bad, the owner shaved him down and did a pretty bad job and nicked him up pretty good, so he then rubbed him with Jensen violet, an antiseptic, but used a little too much, so for the rest of the summer he was a 1 eyed, 3 legged, purple dog!!

Finished the heater today, just have to install it now. I ended up painting the grill flat black and the rest with krylon "black hammered" paint (with "silver hammered" around the opening). I originally had our painter at work paint it all light gray (epoxy enamel) but it just didn't look that great. It provided a good base coat though so i repainted it when i came home. The blower works pretty decent but it's a little loud, but not bad. I'm planning on installing it next week sometime and I'll post some pics of it in the truck.

7.4 lbs. (it will get mounted under the glove compartment via two 5/16" bolts and on the bottom against the firewall with a 1/4-20 bolt which screws into a nutsert on the firewall).

LOL, yeah, I think I could do it, (in fact we talked about it) but I wanted to build in a laser beam so when he lifts his leg to tinkle he would disintegrate all and any objects in his leg's site. My wife thought I should just let him get around with the remaining three legs.

I started to install the heater today. I have it bolted into place, ran the lines from the heater core through the firewall, and wire tied the wiring under the dash until I have time to finish the rest of the install (pics below). I also had a wheel alignment done and drove her on the thruway for about ten miles, ran and steered great. It was a pretty hot day today and the new coolant fan worked great too. I've got a small leak from the steering rack (hopefully loose line fittings) but all in all a pretty great day for me and Lucille.

With my luck, I would let him out to urinate, and my truck would be gone!
sounds like you had an awesome day!

yeah, we can't make Stan a dangerous weapon, he's just not the type. It actually was a pretty good day. It started off pretty crappy when I left work early (after arguing with the boss) but I left and hopped into my truck and it cheered me right up. All's well that ends well and i'll be back at work tomorrow. I did get a huge kick out of watching some young kid at the alignment shop sit in my truck for a few minutes looking stumped on how to start it... that's always fun. (heck, I even got a few honks and thumbs ups today to boot!)

Jeff, I was browsing through your rebuild thread and loved the pic of the whole fam grinding and sanding the frame on Fathers Day 2011... well done sir.

Thanks buddy! I need to update my build thread. I have more to catch up. But I have been playing the waiting game with the machine shop...I don't want to clutter your thread though! So again thanks!

SUCCESS!!!! I finished plumbing my heater last night and it works perfect! My wife sat in the truck when I finished and she was pretty darn excited about the warmth blowing out of that heater (she's always freezing!) I ended up using a shut-off valve with a choke style cable. See pics of engine heater hoses below.
