Does anyone here keep chickens?
We built a portable coop and drag it around the yard. Now that it is cold we are concerned that the coop may not be food enough.
I put cardboard around it the other day to keep it from being too drafty. We don't run a light or heater. I had a blanket thrown over the top to insure the roof but it has been windy and it blew away.
I do have a play house the girls do not use. It is very robust and could be converted and insulated etc.

I've done a fair amount of reading on the subject and they say that they do pretty well keeping warm. I would do what you can to shield the coop from wind, and insulate it as best you can, but they're covered in a down coat for goodness sakes, I would hope they can keep warm that way. How many do you have in your coop?
We do too, but mine are in a coop I built in the corner of the lean-to shed attached to our bank barn. And this is the first year I've had them (first winter), so I'm more or less useless. I do like farm fresh eggs, though!
