rebuild or find another?

Well the3 351w that I put in my dads truck spun a bearing last night. It's out of an 89 f250 so I think it's a non roller. I will be giving him my engine that is in my truck now awaiting a cab replacement and trans swap. It is a 74 block .040 over with crane 444232 cam, 1.7rr and LT headers.

Now, my question is, will it be better to bore his old block .030 over and do the same set up I had? I'll be using a set of gt40 heads, crane 444232, crane 1.7rr and long tubes If I use the non roller. OR should I go out and find a roller block with stock cam and same above top end?

Trucks are both used to pull heavy loads and are 4x4 so the extra power is something I am after. What would you do?

BTW, both are f250. mine is an 89 with ZF sr42 and he has a 96 with e4od just to clarify

I guess it depends what kind of budget you have. It would be best to find a 351w roller motor with MAF and swap all of that over because the MAF motor will take more modifications (like a more aggressive cam) than the SD system will. But otherwise the non roller motor isn't that much worse than the roller motor, I say go ahead and rebuild the current motor if your budget is kind of tight.

MAF is out of the question because I hate wiring. Ha but it would be nice to get some more power. Do you know about that the machining would cost? Like crack checking, bore and hone or whatever else they do?

You'll definitely get more power out of a roller cam and you won't have to deal with break-in, risk wiping a lobe and the fact that modern day oils are not made for flat-tappet cams. That would be reason enough for me to want to use a roller cam, if you can find a decent core and everything else matches.
