WOW---First time towing with my V10

Let me begin by saying that I am a long time diesel owner and last owned a 6.0 which was sold due to various known reasons and because I was just not towing as much as I used to. Moved over to a 6.8 after researching the engine and purchased it last year. Have towed some small stuff but finally pulled about 8k today. I know, not that big but was to me. Well I have to say that I was really happily impressed. Some real power that comes on later than the diesel but it is there and smooth. It seems like it tows the heavy stuff better. Anyway, with diesel so much more than gas and the highly technical diesel engines I am really glad that I picked up my V10. Not so good on gas but will take some time to make up that $8,000 difference. Just wish I could get the v10 with the new 6 speed.

dont we all..

the 3V V10 mated to that kickass new 6-speed auto would be an amazing combo in a F250/350

Yes these V10s are sweet machines and if you decide to go with a tuner 5 star really will bring a smile to your face. It eliminates that throttle lag and firms the shifting up a bit.

Enjoy your truck!

After reading all the threads about Mike and the 5 star tune, I wanted to tow stock first so I could see the difference. Im sure it will be a blast. Can't wait.

Heck why wait. The tuner saves the stock tune.

I'll tell you it makes a huge difference. Today I towed a few pretty good hills with my 4k enclosed trailer. Its a huge difference specially using "tow/haul". I'd usually use it on downhills only, but found myself with it on all day today. Believe the hype about 5 Star tuning. I only run the 87 octane perf. tune even. I only tow light loads though.

I use the 89 tow/performance from Mike and it is also a K-A tune while towing or not. I tow my 10,000lb.+ Airstream and over hill and dale, my V-10/5-speed Tow/Haul works much better than my old 7.3/4-speed ever did.
