sorry we are so negative. A shop will probably have some sort of portapower hydraulic set up that can make easy work of it right on the truck. I know I would if I had to do very many.

not negative at all. It's better to know what's up before jumping in the fire. I have basic hand tools and then some but there is no nasty noises or anything. I just noticed that there is dead space and that they are dry rotted as could be. I guess poly would cost about the same? Any real benefit for my ol' girl?

Poly will last longer. They're 2 piece, so that makes them easier to put in. Some have complained that they squeek. I don't think mine squeek but I'm hard of hearing and the truck is loud so maybe they do and I just don't hear it. Not sure about the price on spring bushings but the poly cab mounts were way cheaper than the OEM rubber ones.

Oh and if you decide to do it yourself if you drill a series of holes between the steel sleeve and the spring it will make it easier to push, pry or hammer the old bushing out.

I replaced my cab mount bushings with poly recently. Let me know if I can help in any way.

Yes it was!! Making and collecting the tools and hardware was the hardest part! But now my driver's side is about 1/2" higher than the passenger's side. Oh well, most people don't notice and it can only add clearance for my downpipe!

Very well said! My only problem is, I don't have enough wisdom to choose how to apply what little talent (if any) that I have! LOL!
I'll try anything once...........twice if I like it

I did a set of poly in my brother in laws truck 60k ago...along with moog ball joints...now, bushings look great...another set of ball joints.
It was ALOT of work on the floor I would have to say.Only cost me one 66 mustang radiator when the bushing broke loose and my 12ton press exlpoded all over my shop crushing the radiator.

oh yea! just when the bushing finally moved all the pressure released and it all flew apart... both his 97 and my 96 are well....over 300k so we have done lots of work on his over the years and since I change trucks like underwear...I ALWAYS seem to have a project or 4 going....I will be doing poly on my f-350 very soon!
