Where to buy factory style headpipes....

Any muffler shop could fab that up for you in a few minutes at a fraction of the price of an OEM replacement part (if it could be found- very doubtfull)
All I need is the drivers side headpipe because I changed engines from 400 to 460 (actually 472). Made the pass side fit.

Walker doesn't list the 460 at all on the catalog, even in the 1-tons to '79. My guess is you are SOL on this one. That said, since you are on the west coast, do you have a Lordco Autoparts nearby? Go see if they will let you have a look at the difference between a ready made Walker tailpipe vs. a 10' stick of 2" to 2.5" pipe like most shops use for custom builds.

I tried Rock Auto as well and no luck.
Buying a 10' stick of pipe would work out fine...it's the bending up procedure that I cant do myself...and the shops around here know that.

I meant more to compare the wall thickness of the pipe. Getting the system done from the engine back is probably the most cost effective way at this point for that reason, as long as they don't weld it the custom system should last awhile. I also get what you mean about shops being a rip off.
My parts truck had a factory Ford replacement from the cat back and was really no better, after about 3 years it was toast. Nothing in the aftermarket for OE replacement seems as good as the OE parts where exhaust is concerned.
Take a good long look under an '80-'97 F-truck with a 460, that may be something you can make fit easily.

So, anyone who goes into a muffler shop to have a stock exhaust system installed on a '70's Ford pickup with a 460, which are still pretty common in these trucks, has to have a custom system built? Why just 460's? I see listings for 351's ,302's, even 6 bangers....but 460 owners get "the ream" because no suppliers have pre-bent pipes? Nice!

Sadly I doubt there is much demand for the stock replacement exhaust on the 70s trucks, most people are running custom 3" or dual exhaust on the survivours by now.
I'll do some digging tonight and post if I see anything, maybe check around with people in the '73-'79 Forum and see what they say.

The other thing I can try to do is figure out how to get under the '90 F250(Has a camper on it and a bad trans...) and get some pictures of the stock Y pipe on it, maybe that will tell you if its possible to do some scrounging at the wreacking yards and in Buy&Sell etc. for one from a newer truck as that would really open things up for finding parts.

Oh, it has a custom dual setup already. A shop should easily be able to modify the left pipe by either cutting the und off and making a new section to hook to the manifold or something.
Looking at the condition of the pipes you should be able to drive out of the shop for under $100 as there really wouldn't be much involved.

This is that the newer trucks use that I figured may work for you. It all depends on frame clearence etc. though.
