I find it interesting that it went away after this ( Ford Truck Enthusiasts Forums - View Single Post - Tired of Ads posing as forum threads ) was posted.
Does anyone else think that the idea of the Powers That Be receiving a load of complaints may have had something to do with the change?

Maybe it's true, the squeaky wheel gets the grease.

Many times you will be told, "There's nothing we can do. I'm just one person." Most times maybe but we'll never get action if everyone stays silent. One lone voice isn't going to do much but many small voices can make a loud noise.

We have to stay diligent, I have a feeling they may come back.

I know, in the scope of things those little ads don't really mean much but sometimes it's the small things that count.

It's still in the large truck forum. Maybe they just come and go. Stu

The devil is merely out getting a new suit of clothes. Too recognizable in the old one now, thanks to this thread and all the posts. He will return.

Well, lets keep our fingers crossed.
I for one am going to think positive and try not fall into my normal cynical self.
I'm going to think that this thread and our voicing our opinion had something to do with it.

Thanks for all the support

Woohoo

Bobby

NOTE: I spoke to soon. No sooner had I posted the above when a Nitto Tires ad appeared as a new thread by our old buddy PostRelease at the top of the page....AAAGGHH!
Ok, then, to heck with the positive thinking, I'm going back to cynical and grumpy....LOL

Odd, I'm not getting the PostRelease thread either. I get it sometimes. I'm running Chrome with AdBlocker. I don't think those block the threads because they are just threads. I wonder how they determine when they are displayed and for who....

I just ignore them, but they are annoying.

...see, thats just the thing.

I even went in and added "PostRelease" to my ignore list. It kind of works, but still every so often I see the thread for Nitto tires.
I completely understand advertising and the need for it. These sites aren't cheap to maintain, run, etc and the owners need to have income. My complaint is that an ad showing up as a legitimate thread is downright sneaky. Yes, it does just pop up at the top of the threads, yes, its easy enough to overlook it, BUT, its the principal of the thing. Plus, I paid good money to be a supporter. Money I could very well have spent on truck parts from a legitimate advertiser on this site (or on cold beer....) and part of being a supporter is to not be inundated by ads. What am I paying for???

Yeah, well I'm not a paid subscriber so I decide to just roll with the ads and see what I'm clicking on before I do it.

But I think Bobby is right. Sneaking posts as a legitimate thread is just a fundillo attitude that strays away from what was originally offered for paid suscribers.

PS. you can translate fundillo if you need to by googling it.

HEY GUYS!!! Good news!! We can all register to win a set of sport bikes from Nitto Tire this am. Woohoo!!! I'd rather ride a bicycle for the principle of it alone. I bought a 3 year membership last year. It was $60. That's more per year than I pay for my kids to play little league. And I paid for that membership because it was advertised as eliminating the ads. So, the more I think about this, the more I'm gonna push to eliminate this obvious breach of contract. If we don't make a stand now, when will IB drop in yet another ad? When does it stop?

Nope!!
PostRelease is back at it hard and heavy

I hate PostRelease! I can can honestly say that I will never, ever, ever, buy a Nitto Tire product, ever. Furthermore, whenever the subject of tires comes up in converstation I will go out of my way to recommend any other tire brand offered instead of Nitto Tires.
I will tell everyone I know NOT to use Nitto Tires.

Bobby
