c4ae-g heads
i got a set of these heads and i need advice on what to do with them. so far i called a local shop and the guy said for 800 he would machine in hardend valve seats bronze valve guides, port match and polish exhaust and port match my intake to intake manifold, install new parts? i have new comp cams valve springs and lifters, retainers a,nd cam, 268 duration 494lift. what i need to no is if i need to get new rocker or if the old stuff will be okay. its a hydr flt tppt cam. he will do bowl work too. so basically im asking if this is al i need and if not what else do i need to make sure it runs efficiently.

Agree with poster that cam will (just barely) work with stock springs. C4 are about as good heads as you can get on a FE. If it needs a valve job might as well get hardened seats, otherwise not. But if you did, you could turn it into a CJ by putting in CJ valves, that's all you need to do for those C4 heads, or so I am told. Of course you can port and polish them too.

The new seats are a good idea, but the rest is really not required for a cam like the 268H. That cam will work with fresh stock 390 springs, new springs aren't a bad idea if they came with the cam kit. The port work and larger valves are not a requirement, you will need some port work done to take advantage of the CJ sized valves.
