Maybe Selling my Truck. Opinions on Selling Price?

I'm thinking about selling my 99 F250 in a few months maybe after the summer..What do you guys think I should ask for it? I know most here is Americans and I live in Canada so I'll transfer info from like km to miles and such.

My father was the original owner of the truck and he gave it to me. So I know the full history on it. No accidents. No dents or scratches ANYWHERE.

The paint on my truck looks the same as it did off the lot, always washed right away when dirty and waxed.

Oh also abosolutely NO rust anywhere. It's been stored in the garage after being lifted during the winter and salt isn't used here.

Some info on it is:

1999 F250 5.4L XL 2v motor.
Single Cab 8ft Box
176000kilometers(about 109000miles)
Custom Upholestered Red/Stone Grey leather bench seat.
$3000 Kenwood Sound System
It has a 9" lift with maybe 20000km on it.
40x14.50 BFG km2 tires with about 16000km on them.
18" dick cepek wheels.
Bushwhacker fender flares
Go rancher grill guard
08 tailgate and bumper
05-07 headlight conversion.
And much more. In total about $20000 in accessories has been invested in it. That's not including labour.
Everything on this truck has been worked on by my father, me, 1 mechanic only. So everything is in line perfectly.

Just let me know what you guys think.

Would that be crew cab with 7.3l you would be a rich guy.
The best way is to start researching local market before coming up with the price.
Use local craigslist for close market and Autotrader for like 500 miles radius.
Buyers don't usually mind driving a day to get their beloved vehicle so that might work.
Bad news is- the extra accessories don't mean too much at the sale. I have seen it lot of times when seller removed the hot stuff from their vehicles, bringing it back to stock and than sell the hot stuff separately.
Measure the tire thread depth and than you will look like a man driving truck, not like the wife underselling the truck without husband knowledge.

Sounds like a very nice, well cared-for truck. They bring a premium price in my experience. I once sold a 9 year old truck with 91K miles that was nearly stock except for a quality lowering job and wheels and tires for about $1,500 less than I paid brand new! The people that appreciate babied vehicles know what they want and yours sounds like a good one. My advice is to check the KBB for high book value, add on 50% of what you paid for accessories and then top it off with about 5% and see what happens.

So are you upgrading to a newer Super Duty or getting something else?

EDIT: Never mind... I saw your other thread.

Unfortunately that money is gone, and you have no chance of getting it back. You might see an extra $2k at resale, but only if you find the exact buyer that wants that stuff, and that stuff on the truck seriously reduces your pool of buyers.

It is always a bad news story when you invest in accessories. You make the truck your own, in more ways than one.

I agree 100%. Especially w/ a 9" lift and 40" tires - that makes it exactly useless for towing. Your target market is now cut by probably 75% (at least where I live). To compound the issue it's only a regular cab, XL model and it's 13 years old and the first model year. That's not to say a buyer isn't out there but it will take a very special one so be prepared to sit on it and wait for them to show up. Down here on the plains where there's more using trucks than looking trucks I would place a value somewhere about $5,000. It all depends how soon you need to sell it - if you can afford to sit on it, ask $9,000 and hope that perfect buyer comes along.

Reading everyone's comments, I take a lot into consideration.

I'm seriously considering selling it for $15,000.
My reasoning for this is last year I sold a 01 F250 that I owned for $13,500.

Now let me explain my reasoning. My 01 had major damage in it due to the previous owner getting hit by a dump truck. It was repaired but repaired poorly because the previous owner had a cheap job done on it. You could see body filler and lots of dents.
My 01 was an ext cab 8ft box,5.4L 2v,Power steering also needed to be replaced upon sale, it had 75k miles on it, but it burned a lot of gas more then my 99 And my 99 Has a 9" lift with 40" tires LOL. I sold my 01 because I came to the conclusion it was a poorly treated truck.

I feel bad because I have treated my 99 with such great respect and have babied it so much it killed me to see this 01 in this condition and wish I had the time and money to bring it up to a better life then it had.

So with that in mind, I dont see no reason for not getting $15,000?

What do you guys think? Honest opinions!

I honestly dont think you will get that for your truck man. Thats about what i'd pay for a 7.3 that year if it was at least an XLT. but thats just me...

Why you care what numbers we would put on it?
That truck would be worth a fortune in Australia, but what that is for you?
Check your local market

I know and I completely understand.

I don't have to sell it. Im just taking it into consideration.

If I choose not to sell it, it will just continue to be my nice day truck!

My biggest problem now is when I get a brand new truck..I'm gonna be afraid to drive it when its not nice out LOL. I think I baby these things a little on edge.

Honest opinion is that it will always be worth more to you than anyone else. And when you've put as much effort into something as you have with this, maybe it is best to just keep it for the rest of its life. Drive it to town on Sunday for a malt.

Of course, it doesn't hurt to advertise it every few months at your price. If it sells great, if it doesn't, that's great too.

As an seasoned citizen, I can tell you how much I miss some of the special vehicles that I sold in years past. I would give 10 times as much as I got for them if I could get them back now.
