I have a problem with my truck on cold mornings. Shortly after starting, I hear a whooshing noise in the dash area, and it gets louder if I push the accelerator down slowly- plus the truck will not accelerate while this noise is happening. If I back out of the throttle completely until the noise stops, and then push the pedal down aggressively, ,it accelerates just fine until the speed catches up to the rpm, and then the noise and lack of response comes back. This happens until the truck is at operating temp for a while, and only happens in the winter, when temps are below or at freezing at night. Anybody ever hear of anything like this? It's driving me nuts

EBPV - Exhaust Back Pressure Valve.

It increases load on the motor to warm up faster. Instead of driving right away, allow your truck to warm up before driving.

That's it? It's operating properly? I just have to wait? Thanks Trey, I'll try it!

Yupp thats it. There is some debate as to whether or not it should be operating when on throttle, but other than that its operating properly.

OK, when I let the truck idle for very long, it suddenly increases in rpm and makes a loud exhaust sound- what's that about?

Could be high idle. Could be EBPV. Depends on the temp.

Happy to report that the bogging down has stopped for the time being. I guess the fuel filter was the issue. Thanks for all the suggestions, You guys rock!

I'm new to these trucks, so all the little quick fix/preventative stuff you guys shared will definitely be helpful.
