Guys, thanks for the help and pics! John per your 3.5 inches that will work for me when I get done. I can rest now knowing that I will have some room and can fab one up! I was worried.

To save money, I made my own glove box out of ABS plastic. It glues together with the save glue that you use for sprinkler pipe. I upholstered it with the same grey material that I used for the seats and the the door panels. It was about 2.5" deep. Good luck, Jag

I used the vintage air mock up box to position my gen 2, but I haven't received the unit yet to mount. I'm going to mount mine closer to the middle of the dash, under the wiper motor, and drop it down slightly. With a dash extension like doravilles you won't see it and I should be able to keep my glove box. I'll have alittle more room to bend the hoses also.
