MAF cleaning

Hi guys, started the spring checkups for getting ready to fire up the beast (sitting for the winter). The battery was pulled and charged over the winter. Did a fresh oil change just before winter. Truck is a 2008.

I thought it would be a good idea to give the MAF a cleaning. Picked up some MAF cleaner and pulled the sensor out of the truck. There was a very fine white deposit on the inside of the air box and up to the engine also covering the MAF. The cleaner did not remove this coating on the outside of the sensor and only a very gentle wipe with a soft cloth removed it. Some dirt did come off the sensor but not much.

I did not even attempt to remove anything from any openings or put anything into the small slots.

I am just wondering if I should just run it and see or is it worth getting a new MAF??

I would just run it and see. If something's broke, you were gonna replace it anyway.

That white stuff, figure out what it is - could be mold/mildew from dampness from sitting.

The MAF is pretty sturdy - no need to replace it just because it got crud on it
