To make them Pretty.
I probably wouldnt do the exhaust flange but the raw up pipe tubing seems like it is going to rust.

Its all personal preference but if you want them to hold up cosmeticly a good ceramic high heat application would be nice not to mention some other benefits, reduced heat transfer and better spool up, read off of Clay's site.. Clay at RiffRaff performance diesel here offers that option when you buy his uppies.

I painted mine with high temp header paint. It has held up fine for the last year. Clean them really well and spray them if you want.

I read that before I ordered mine. $100+ for ceramic coating is way to rich for my blood.
And as far as preference goes, I just prefer that they dont rust and I also prefer not to waist my time painting them if its just going to fail.
I wonder if its just the tubing that get ceramic coated or the whole assembly.

I just received my ceramic coated up pipes from Riffraff and the extra 126 for the coating is well worth the cost IMHO. Will be putting them in on Monday along with the FRx and HPx.

I painted the up-pipes, collector and the turbine housing.

A little cleaner than this!

I have used VHT FlameProof paint on my up & down pipes, baby butt collector and turbine housing. It has silica and ceramic in it VHT FlameProof™ Coating Also on my down pipe I have it wrapped. I am going to also wrap up pipes after welding in bellows and painting with the VHT FlameProof. And this stuff has to be cured in a special way to work correctly as you can see in that add. But I always paint before wrapping for 2 reasons 1: to help keep them from rusting 2: To help hold the wrap in place and hold more heat in. Just my 2 cents.
Ken what kind of paint did you use?

I used the vht also an it worked well. Only problem I've had was some little rust spots poping up, it's just specs but still. Best thing I can figure is I didn't get the coating off, it was a 38R and I didn't want to bead blast it right off the bat.
