x2... For something such as this, the weight difference is not worth the extra coin... Id run a sterling in a heart beat.
The weight difference is worth about 2 tenths in the 1/4.... just depends on how serious he wants to get.
The 9" is the only small axle that will stand up to a diesel, but it needs to be fully built. $2,000 isn't that bad in regards to building an axle. I have more than that into my front 60 in my crawler.
From there it jumps up to a sterling/14b/D70.
The sterling 10.25SF is kind of hard to find, but it was used in 93-97 F250 gassers, and it is 35 spline. The nice thing about that, is its going to be the lightest axle, that doesn't need parts to run.
