Typical trailer tire mayhem. Throw on some LT 235/80r16E and never look back. It's the first thing I do on any of my trailers. Never had a blow out on an LT tire. Alot of your larger 5ers now come with them.
Trailer tire blew out 2 hours after arriving at campsite. Better than on the road!
I think you've figured out Marathon tires do not have a good reputation for a reason. Look into some Sailun S637. Load range G. These are some serious, heavy duty tires. The tire alone weighs more than an oem tire and rim! Plus, they are priced well. About half of Goodyear G614
Since it blew 2 hours after we were parked, I'm leaning towards a separation in the side wall that led to a leak forming a bubble in the side wall and growing until it popped.
I was able to air that tire up to 65lbs with that split in it.
I remember us towing a 6x12 uhaul trailer with marathon tires on it. Two out of the four blew on the trip from New York to Texas, it was an awesome time...
I recall reading about a GEM module that can get water in it from a common leak spot on drivers side windshield -- causes logic symptoms like yours when it shorts out various contacts. When something is doing "its own thing", as in uncommanded, I'd suspect the GEM...
Yeah I am thinking that is the issue but I don't want to drop the money on it. I haven't personally found the price but have read where it cost up to $400 or more. So I was trying the cheap $15 relays first. I did have my windshield replaced back in April so maybe it is leaking inside.
Spent 3 hours at Firestone helping the tech align my truck at least SEMI-right since it has the adjustable caster/camber bushings. Took him 3 hours since he had never seen them before and had no clue how they worked until I took time to show him. 19 years at firestone and ASE master tech cert. At least he did take the time to get it a LOT closer to "perfect" spec over what it was the past two times when it was "IN SPEC" by their machine (which cost me a set of tires, basically).
To top things off, they told me my "lifetime alignment" was no longer any good since it came from a different district of Firestone 8 years ago and they can't find a record of it despite having done it for the past 7 years. Unless I can furnish written proof....I don't think they have to worry about me returning to their fine establishment.
