HEI doesn't fit
OK gang, I'm really getting frustrated with this build. I have a '77 400 all the good internal stuff roller cam, rockers, ARP studs etc. Now the problem.......Installed the Edelbrock Performer intake, now the HEI, from performance distributors, doesn't clear the intake or the water neck and it sits so high that I can't put the air breather on This "up grade" cost me $350 I am thinking just go back to the Ford distributor and do the D.U.I up grades and be done with it . Am I doing something wrong, forgetting to do something????? Popa John

I got a D.U.I Hei on my 400m with the Edelbrock Performer 400 fits fine you might have to put a spacer under the air cleaner or use a smaller one .... I am using a Edelbrock Performer with 2" carb spacer and 14" K&N air cleaner

Popajon, that suck's and blows at the same time. I've read about them fouling on the air-cleaner coz they're so large in the unit, but still would've thought it would miss the manifold and water neck, the performers are only a better flowing adaptation of the cast factory items(?). When you finally get this going I believe I'll hear the rebel yell all the way down here!! LOL
